Compassion is an international Christian child
development and child advocacy ministry.
Partnering with local churches, they are
committed to the spiritual, economic, social and
physical development of children living in extreme poverty in 26 countries, enabling them to become responsible, fulfilled Christian adults. St John's congregation individually supports 42 children in various countries (19 in Haiti). In addition a donation is made annually from church central funds for work in Haiti.
We believe that God wishes people to be whole.
This service aims to support the individual’s wellbeing
offering emotional support through pastoral counseling and prayer for inner and physical healing. All are welcome. Contact Church Office for dates.
Hope4Havering (H4H) was created in Romford in October 2011 to serve homeless and vulnerable people by providing accommodation and support. They house 15 people in their night shelter every night and have helped over 120 homeless people this year. Founded upon Christian values, they support people regardless of faith.
The valley, park and river are fantastic places to spend your leisure time, whether you are walking your dog, riding your bike, having a picnic or just taking a leisurely walk in the park. These are great places to do a spot of bird watching and to listen to their wonderful songs, look at the wild flowers and historic artefacts, use the outdoor gym equipment and try to get fit or just relax in the peaceful atmosphere. We have to protect and look after these areas to ensure that they will be there for future generations to enjoy.
